CANCUN.- The tenders will begin in the first week of November to start this year with the construction of more than 1,100 domes in the same number of educational institutions in the state, with an investment of more than 2.5 billion pesos.

Aldo Andrés Castro Jiménez, head of the Quintana Roo Institute of Educational Infrastructure (Ifeqroo), reported that this project aims to provide safer spaces for students and protect them from weather conditions.

The goal is to provide them with a space for their activities and to stop being out in the open, as the sun is very terrible in the state, he said.

Once the bidding process is complete, construction of this infrastructure will begin and is expected to be completed in 2027, before the end of the current state administration.

The construction will have two models, arched roofs for preschools and light domes for the rest of the basic, upper secondary and higher education centers.

In these covered spaces, public school students will be able to carry out their activities, as well as hold meetings with parents.

The instruction is that no school is to be left without a dome; those already built and new ones must have one, he said.
